Mamelodi Sundowns of South Africa successfully clinched their semi-final berth in the African Football League (AFL) despite playing with only ten men for the majority of their match against Petro Atletico, which ended in a 0-0 draw on Tuesday.

Mothobi Mvala, a Sundowns midfielder, was shown the red card just two minutes into the game, increasing the pressure on the home team.

Yet, the Sundowns showcased a resolute defensive performance, denying the Angolan side Petro Atletico any advantage, even though they had a one-man advantage and dominated ball possession.

While the second half saw Petro Atletico ramp up their offense, the Sundowns’ defense remained impenetrable, allowing only three shots on their goal.

The draw was enough for Mamelodi Sundowns to move to the semi-finals with a 2-0 aggregate score, courtesy of their first-leg lead.

The team is now gearing up to face Al Ahly in the semi-finals, battling it out over two matches to secure a spot in the grand finale.
