In a standout performance during Sunday night’s game, Isiah Pacheco showcased perhaps his most impressive gameplay in his budding career.

Playing in his home state, New Jersey, didn’t give him an extra boost, as per Kansas City Chiefs’ head coach Andy Reid. Instead, it’s just Pacheco’s signature high-energy style the Chiefs have come to recognize and appreciate.

“He might’ve been thrilled to play there, but Isiah’s always in high gear,” Reid noted on Wednesday. “That’s his mode even during practices.”

Pacheco, a Rutgers alum, was pivotal in the Chiefs’ 23-20 triumph over the New York Jets. He clocked a career-high 115 yards across 20 carries, highlighted by an impressive 48-yard touchdown in the initial quarter. With his aggressive style, Pacheco registered 100 rushing yards post-contact, as noted by Next Gen Stats. Facing the formidable Jets defense, Pacheco proved unstoppable.

His dynamic playing energizes the team, and on Sunday, he steered the Chiefs to a win where the ground game surpassed their aerial offense, 204 yards to 197.

“He’s a powerhouse, not just for the running backs but the entire offense,” Reid commented. “He invigorates everyone. It’s vital we occasionally rotate him with the other two backs, giving him a break.”

After a sluggish start with 23 yards in the season opener against the Detroit Lions, Pacheco has been steadily gaining momentum. Over the past three games, he’s registered 70, 62, and 115 yards.

After amassing 830 yards in his rookie year, Pacheco is swiftly becoming central to the Chiefs’ strategy. His aggressive approach might not be the safest, but his relentless drive is undeniable. Coach Reid is certainly impressed but also recognizes that defenses will soon prioritize Pacheco.

“Reliability is key,” stressed Reid. “Defenses will target standout players, so it’s essential for Pacheco and the team to coordinate their plays. But one thing’s for sure – Pacheco will always give his all, whether he’s running or catching.”

Pacheco’s next challenge with the Chiefs is against the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday. He’ll face the 15th-ranked rushing defense, but there’s no doubt he’ll be charging forward at full throttle.
