Sarah Rafferty on Inviting Meghan Markle to Join the Suits Rewatch Podcast: ‘Everyone’s Welcome’
Sarah Rafferty and Patrick J. Adams are reuniting the Suits cast for their new rewatch podcast, and they’re hoping to include their former co-star, Meghan Markle, on their guest list.
“Everyone’s invited, and we’ve had incredible support,” Rafferty told Entertainment Weekly when asked about inviting the Duchess of Sussex to join SiriusXM’s Sidebar: A Suits Watch Podcast. “It’s fantastic! I’ve been texting with one of our directors, Mike Smith, and Rachael Harris shared some thoughts on our Instagram Live this morning. I can’t wait for Sheila Sazs to be introduced into the show. I’m eager to chat with Max Beesley and all the British actors we worked with.”
Hosted by Rafferty and Adams, the podcast marks the first time the actors have revisited the series where they portrayed Mike Ross and Donna Paulsen. They will recap episodes, share behind-the-scenes stories, and interview cast and crew members. Initial guests include Gina Torres, who played Jessica Pearson, and showrunner Aaron Korsh.
Rafferty is particularly excited to highlight contributions from various departments that shaped the show, from wardrobe to set design. “Everyone has a story to tell from their own perspective, and it takes countless individuals to bring a show to life,” she explained. “I think that’s fascinating. There are so many discussions to be had, like, ‘How did you select that song?’ All those details matter.”
USA Network’s Suits starred Adams as Mike Ross, a conman who becomes a lawyer under the mentorship of Gabriel Macht’s character, Harvey Specter, at a prestigious New York law firm. The series aired from 2011 to 2019 and included performances by Rick Hoffman and Markle, who later became the Duchess of Sussex after marrying Prince Harry. The show recently experienced a resurgence in popularity when its first eight seasons were made available on Netflix in 2023, leading to record-breaking streaming success and topping Nielsen’s charts for months. A new spinoff, Suits: L.A., is currently in development.
Reflecting on the show’s unexpected revival during the writers’ strike, Rafferty said, “It was surreal trying to process what it all meant. This resurgence was part of why we decided to create the podcast—an opportunity to explore the significance of the show for everyone involved and its viewers.”
Rafferty began to notice the renewed interest in Suits when fans approached her in public to discuss the show, which had only happened in Canada during the series’ original run. “That’s a real shift,” she remarked, recalling a memorable encounter at a theme park. “I was with my kids when a character dressed as Poppy from Trolls couldn’t speak, but she communicated with her giant puffy hands, gesturing, ‘Oh my gosh, you’re on Suits!’ and mimicking the Donna walk. It was the funniest interaction I’ve ever had.”
Adams initially suggested revisiting Suits and starting the podcast during the pandemic, and the resurgence of interest accelerated their discussions. Rafferty admitted she hadn’t watched the series while it was being filmed because life was “busy, crazy, chaotic, and hectic.” She said, “I was juggling having kids and moving between Toronto and L.A., and I never took the time to really process it. Now, nine years later, I’m thinking, ‘Did I miss out?’”
Now that she’s finally watching Suits, Rafferty is “fangirling” over the experience. “There are so many details I missed while filming,” she shared. “We were on set and unaware of things like the music selections. There’s so much to discuss, which is why the podcast is so enjoyable.”

Although the podcast has only aired a few episodes, Rafferty is relishing the opportunity to watch the show again and connect with her co-stars, often forgetting to save their conversations for the podcast. “I shared a screen grab while watching and started asking Gina questions about her scenes,” she recounted. “She responded, suggesting we meet at the studio to record together. A few days later, she joined Patrick and me for an amazing conversation. We can’t wait to do that with everyone involved.”
However, Rafferty is already grappling with a common challenge of binge-watching shows with someone else: waiting to watch the next episode with Adams. “We reach the end of an episode, and then we have to pause to discuss it,” she explained. “Patrick and I both want to binge-watch, but I’ve secretly watched 10 to 15 minutes into the next episode because I just can’t resist.”
It sounds like something Donna would definitely do!
