CNN reporter Jim Sciutto shared alarming footage from Tel Aviv, where he was forced to take cover as Iranian missiles fell close to his reporting location atop a tall hotel.

On Tuesday, Sciutto posted a video on X, showing rockets landing near the site where his team was broadcasting. In the clip, the urgency in his voice is palpable as he instructs his colleagues to seek shelter.

“Oh God. Okay, guys, we’ve got to get off the roof. These are coming down right next to us,” he says in the video. “They’re coming down, one just about… we’ve got to go inside.”

Reports indicated that sirens were blaring around him while he was on the hotel roof, and a missile landed nearby, prompting him and his team to find cover. Upon returning to live coverage, Sciutto estimated that the missiles impacted roughly a quarter of a mile away.

“I have to imagine there was damage,” he noted, later describing the scene as a “deadly fireworks display” over Tel Aviv. However, according to Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari, a spokesperson for the Israel Defense Forces, there were no immediate casualties reported following the incident.

CNN’s Wolf Blitzer commented during the coverage that the situation could escalate into a larger regional conflict, particularly after a separate shooting attack in Tel Aviv that same day, which resulted in multiple fatalities, according to Reuters.

The Associated Press reported that the ongoing conflict is rooted in Israel’s long-standing tensions with Iran-backed militia groups, including Hezbollah and Hamas. Iran claimed responsibility for the missile strikes, citing the recent deaths of Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah and Revolutionary Guard General Abbas Nilforushan in an Israeli airstrike as part of its justification for the attack. The statement warned that this missile assault represented merely a “first wave,” without further details.

Israel has recently intensified operations against Hezbollah in Lebanon amid continued assaults on Gaza, following a deadly attack by Hamas on Israel in October 2023 that resulted in thousands of casualties.
