BTS’ Jimin and NewJeans nominated for 4 Billboard awards each
At the upcoming 2023 Billboard Music Awards (BBMAs), K-pop sensation Jimin from BTS and popular girl group NewJeans are each in the running for four accolades.
As unveiled by the BBMAs, Jimin’s nominations include Top Selling Song for “Like Crazy,” Top Global K-Pop Artist, Top K-Pop Album with “Face,” and Top Global K-Pop Song once again for “Like Crazy.”
NewJeans, on the other hand, are contending in four categories with their hits: Top Billboard Global (Excl. U.S.) Artist, Top Global K-Pop Artist, Top K-Pop Album for “Get Up,” and nominations in the Top Global K-Pop Song category for both “Ditto” and “OMG.”
Additionally, the acclaimed girl group TWICE is vying for three awards, while male groups Stray Kids and Tomorrow X Together each have two nominations.
Emerging group Fifty Fifty, currently on a break due to contractual issues, has been nominated in two sections: Top Duo/Group and Top Global K-Pop Song with “Cupid.”
BLACKPINK, along with BTS members Suga and Jungkook, have each been nominated for a single award in categories like Top K-Pop Touring Artist and Top Global K-Pop Song for “Seven (feat. Latto).”
The BBMAs, esteemed as one of America’s top three music award events alongside the American Music Awards and the Grammy Awards, have expanded their categories to incorporate four new K-pop specific ones this year.
Of the K-pop line-up, only Jimin, NewJeans, and Fifty Fifty secured nominations outside the K-pop exclusive categories.
Recalling the 2022 BBMAs, BTS took home three honors, including Top Duo/Group and Top Selling Song. This year’s event will be broadcast live on Billboard’s official digital platforms come Nov. 19.
