In his first court appearance, accused Idaho college killer Bryan Kohberger said “I love you” to his family as he agreed to be extradited from Pennsylvania to Idaho.

Despite being handcuffed and wearing a red prison jumpsuit, the man accused of fatally stabbing four University of Idaho college students answered yes-or-no questions about his decision to waive extradition.

Judge Margherita Worthington asked, “Do you suffer from any mental health diagnosis or take any prescribed medication that would affect your ability to understand what we are discussing here today?”

“No,” he replied.

The judge asked, “Are you willing to waive your rights and return to Idaho to face prosecution?”

The 28-year-old suspect replied, “Yes.”.

The short hearing lasted around 10 minutes and paved the way for him to be transported to Idaho where he will be formally charged.

A prisoner belt and cuffs were worn by the alleged murderer as he was led into court at 3:24 p.m.

Kohberger scanned the courtroom as people in the gallery fell silent. His family – his mother, father and two sisters – had already been brought into court at 2:55 p.m. by Monroe County Chief Public Defender Jason LaBar.

After sitting down, Kohberger turned back to his family and gave a wry smile and nod to his dad, Michael.

After hugging Melissa and Amanda, his dad reached out to his right and gave Maryann a reassuring touch on her shoulder after she had buried her head in Melissa’s.

The sheriff handed Melissa a box of tissues just before the judge banged her gavel at 3:30 p.m. Melissa sobbed silently as she waited for the judge to bang her gavel.

As Kohberger was led from the courtroom, he turned to his family and whispered, “I love you.”.

Before the family was led out of the courtroom, his father waved to him before the rest of the gallery remained seated.

According to Worthington, Kohberger must surrender to Idaho within 10 days from Tuesday, but authorities are expected to transport him there much more quickly, perhaps tonight.

After driving cross-country from Pullman, Wash., with his father, Kohberger was arrested early Friday at his parents’ home in Albrightsville, Pa.

On Nov. 13, Kaylee Goncalves, Madison Mogen, Xana Kernodle and Ethan Chapin, all PhD students at Washington State University Pullman, were murdered in an off-campus home in Moscow, Idaho.

Upon Kohberger’s first appearance in Idaho court, prosecutors can release his probable cause affidavit, according to local law, after which more details will be revealed.

As Idaho authorities prepare for Kohberger’s arrival, visitors crossed the police tape to visit the house where the murders took place Wednesday.

Kohberger’s attorney and a private investigator who is part of his defense team were identified as two of the visitors to The Post, but neither offered their names.

During the inspection, witnesses saw flashlight beams from inside the house as the party stayed inside the house for almost three hours.
