America’s Got Talent Season 19 Winner Revealed: His Plans for the Prize

In an exclusive exit interview, the season 19 winner shares his exciting future plans.

Spoiler Alert: This article contains spoilers about the finale of America’s Got Talent season 19.

After a season filled with captivating performances and millions of viewer votes, singer Richard Goodall has been crowned the winner of America’s Got Talent season 19. The Terre Haute, Indiana school janitor captured hearts—including that of judge Heidi Klum—with his heartfelt renditions of songs by Journey, Michael Bolton, and Survivor.

Throughout the season, Goodall impressed Klum and fellow judges Simon Cowell, Howie Mandel, and Sofia Vergara with his passion for ’80s power ballads and rock anthems. He shared that he had been singing while working for 23 years, thanks to encouragement from his students to audition for the show.

Despite going viral and receiving a Golden Buzzer from Klum early in the competition, Goodall was “completely and totally surprised” to win against talented acts like comedian Learnmore Jonasi, quick-change magician Solange Kardinaly, and dog dance duo Roni Sagi and Rhythm, along with six other finalists.

“It’s been a wild, wonderful roller coaster,” Goodall reflected, noting that while the show has concluded, the impact of his victory hasn’t fully sunk in yet.

Entertainment Weekly: You had a special connection with Heidi. What do you appreciate about her?

Richard Goodall: She’s always been my champion. Throughout all four of my songs, she’s been incredibly supportive. But really, everyone has been amazing—Simon, Howie, Sofia, and all the staff who helped me navigate the AGT campus.

What are your plans moving forward? Will you continue working as a janitor?

I definitely plan to keep my janitor job for a while longer, and I want to invest wisely. My wife, Angela, and I discuss everything together; we’re not the flashy type, so our plans will be practical and not extravagant.
