The Survivor vs. Big Brother Rivalry Escalates on Latest Episode of The Traitors

Two more players fall as the battle intensifies.

Warning: Spoilers ahead for The Traitors season 3, episode 7.

In the previous season of The Traitors, the house was divided between the “gamers” — contestants with reality competition experience — and the “non-gamers” — those with no background in elimination-based games. While season 3 initially seemed to follow a similar path, it has now evolved into a full-blown war between the gamers. And in this week’s episode, two more contestants paid the price.

The tension began building last week at the Roundtable when Survivor’s Carolyn Wiger clashed with Big Brother’s Danielle Reyes. Carolyn accused Danielle of throwing her name out while Danielle attempted to vote out Survivor’s Boston Rob Mariano. Meanwhile, Big Brother’s Derrick Levasseur went after Boston Rob, but Rob skillfully redirected the vote to Wes Bergmann of The Challenge, who was eventually banished.

This set the stage for more infighting. Fearing Derrick was targeting him next, Boston Rob managed to convince Danielle and Carolyn to murder his adversary. “He came right at me tonight,” Rob argued. “Come on, Danielle. At least let me get my revenge. If you want to start working together, give me that.”

Danielle, clearly torn, finally agreed: “Okay, if I give you Derrick, can we start over?”

And with that, she sacrificed her closest ally in the game. Derrick, ever the competitor, took his exit gracefully, telling the camera, “I got respect for Rob. If I had been in his position, I would’ve murdered me as well.”

Before he left, Derrick shared with Dylan Efron that he suspected Big Brother’s Britney Haynes might be a Traitor. Dylan passed this information along to Boston Rob, who quickly seized the opportunity. He started to circulate Britney’s name, suggesting he was being framed for Derrick’s murder to make him the prime suspect.

Britney, however, was not going down without a fight. “I am just not going to peacefully leave this castle,” she declared to the camera. “I will light a match, throw some gasoline, and I am not breaking. Bring it on.”

Rob didn’t hold back. “Who here has the ability to think strategically, to make a move like, ‘Let’s kill Derrick to frame Rob?’” he questioned. “Truthfully, there’s only one answer. Britney, I don’t know if you’re a Traitor, but you are my number one suspect.”

But Britney’s defense was convincing, according to Dylan. She was able to persuade the group that she was a Faithful. The table ultimately sided with her, and Rob received seven out of 12 votes, including votes from fellow Traitors Carolyn and Danielle. After his departure, Rob reflected on the situation: “I did my absolute best. I understand why Carolyn was scared of me. She had no reason to be. I legitimately would’ve gone to the end with her. As for Danielle, she’s a bad Traitor, a bad game player. But I’m proud of how I handled myself.”

As the war between the gamers rages on, their numbers are dwindling. With only two Traitors left in the game, the stakes have never been higher. Next week’s murder will happen face-to-face, and one has to wonder if the victim will be offered the chance to avoid elimination by joining Danielle and Carolyn in the Turret. Considering the chaos and tension there all season long, this may not be as clear-cut a decision as it seems.
