Which Premier League players are out of contract this summer transfer window
With the conclusion of the Premier League season, focus now shifts to the upcoming summer transfer window.
The 2023 summer window is set to open on June 14 and will run until September 1. However, June 30 holds significance as it marks the expiration of player contracts ending this summer, according to Premier League rules.
Our writers have examined the players expected to depart their clubs at the end of the month, as well as those on the verge of signing new deals.
Arsenal Who is leaving and why?
Arsenal has limited contracts expiring, with Ainsley Maitland-Niles and Reiss Nelson as the only players becoming free agents in June. Maitland-Niles is expected to leave as the club has decided against triggering the option for a further year. Meanwhile, Nelson is likely to extend his stay with a new four-year deal.

Brighton & Hove Albion Who is leaving and why?
Brighton only has three players theoretically out of contract this summer, but they have one-year options to extend the deals of Joel Veltman and Jan Paul van Hecke, both Dutch defenders. Talks are underway with Veltman and his representative for a new contract, with head coach Roberto De Zerbi confirming the right-back will stay.
Tom McGill has agreed to a two-year deal and will remain at the club. The 23-year-old goalkeeper has recently been on the bench as cover for Jason Steele after long-time No 1 Robert Sanchez declined the role.
Leeds United Who is leaving and why?
Weston McKennie’s loan from Juventus is coming to an end, and he will not be staying permanently. A permanent move for the American was dependent on Leeds’ top-flight status, which they have maintained. However, his loan spell has not been successful.
The only two senior players out of contract at Leeds this summer are midfielder Adam Forshaw and goalkeeper Joel Robles. Leeds have options to extend their stays, but it remains uncertain whether they will exercise those options. The summer will bring significant changes to the dressing room.
