On the premiere night of The Golden Bachelorette, suitor Jonathan, 61, captures Joan Vassos’ heart with an original poem that leaves a lasting impression.

In the world of The Bachelorette, reciting a poem on the first night can be a daring move. It can either make the Bachelorette swoon or cause cringe-worthy moments. Just ask Trista Sutter, who still cherishes the poems her husband Ryan wrote her, including one from the night they met. Unfortunately, not every poetic attempt has the same effect—some can be more awkward than charming.

But for rose lovers, we have some good news! According to exclusive reports from Entertainment Weekly, Jonathan will indeed recite a heartfelt poem for Joan during the series premiere of The Golden Bachelorette. And the best part? It’s genuinely sweet—and we have the video to prove it!

In the preview, Jonathan, a shipping consultant from Iowa, tells Joan how he was inspired to write his poem after watching her perform one at a talent show on The Golden Bachelor. “Something went off in my mind, and I thought, ‘Well, wait a minute! I’ve gotta write a poem,’” he explains as he invites her to stand while he recites his heartfelt piece.

“I’m grateful and blessed to see you in that dress”? This man clearly has charm to spare! Joan is clearly taken with his words, saying, “He really makes a really good first impression.”

Will Jonathan secure the coveted First Impression Rose? We’ll have to tune in to the two-hour premiere on Wednesday, September 18, at 8 p.m. ET/PT on ABC to find out. See you then, rose lovers!
