Watch Iron Maiden’s Nicko McBrain Gets Hit by Falling Gong

During a recent concert in Dublin, Iron Maiden’s drummer Nicko McBrain experienced an unexpected mishap when he was struck by a falling gong that had been hit by frontman Bruce Dickinson. The band was in the midst of performing their song “Alexander The Great” when Dickinson ascended a riser at the back of the stage. Approaching a massive 40-inch symphonic gong positioned behind McBrain, Dickinson struck it with a large mallet during a particularly intense moment in the over eight-minute-long epic tune. The impact caused the gong to crash down onto McBrain’s back.

Despite the surprising incident, Dickinson appeared momentarily stunned but soon cracked a smile, returning to his usual center stage spot. McBrain, showcasing his remarkable dedication, continued playing through the entire ordeal despite obviously feeling the significant impact.

“Alexander the Great” is a recent addition to Iron Maiden’s setlist. Although originally released on their 1986 album “Somewhere in Time,” the song had not been performed in concerts until May 28 of the current year.

Currently embarking on their Future Past tour, Iron Maiden is captivating audiences across Europe. However, this tour has seen a couple of onstage antics with Dickinson. During a performance in Prague, the singer playfully placed a Roman-style helmet on bassist Steve Harris, leading to a humorous moment during another rendition of “Alexander the Great.”
