Star Wars Fans Are Probably Right About The Mandalorian’s Biggest Mystery

The Mandalorian delves into a fresh storyline in the expansive Star Wars universe, bridging the gap between 1983’s Return of the Jedi and 2015’s The Force Awakens. While introducing us to an array of new characters, it also brings back some beloved ones. Central to the narrative is the bond between Din Djarin, the Mandalorian bounty hunter, and Grogu, an enigmatic child adept with the Force, belonging to Yoda’s species. Grogu’s history prior to The Mandalorian remains largely uncharted, though fans have their speculations.

Throughout the first season, Grogu’s backstory remained enigmatic. It was only in the second season, with the appearance of Ahsoka Tano, Anakin Skywalker’s erstwhile padawan, that we learned more about Grogu. Through a Force connection, Ahsoka discovers that Grogu spent his initial years in the Jedi Temple. Some enthusiasts speculate that Grogu, often referred to as “Baby Yoda”, could potentially be the offspring of Yoda and Yaddle, the only known beings of his species from the Star Wars movies. While myriad theories abound, including one suggesting Grogu as a reincarnated Yoda, there’s a compelling case to be made for Grogu being Yoda’s direct descendant.
