Slipknot’s Sid Wilson Hospitalized After Bonfire Accident: ‘I Had an Explosion in My Face’

Slipknot’s Sid Wilson is on the mend after suffering serious burns in a bonfire accident.

The DJ and musician, who has been with the iconic metal band since 1998 and is married to Kelly Osbourne, shared several updates on social media Friday about the incident and his recovery.

“I had an explosion in my face,” Wilson revealed in one video. “My face is burned, and my cheeks… I’m gonna be okay, but I did have some serious burns to my face and my arms. You can see the phone is shaking — that’s because I’m holding it, and I am shaking. They’re doing some X-rays on my chest right now to make sure I didn’t inhale any flames.”

Wilson explained that the accident occurred while he was tending to a bonfire, not during a performance. In another video, filmed while he was being transferred between hospitals, he provided more details: “A bonfire. It was burnt from last night already, there were some leftovers, and I got a little — woosh — fire,” he said. “I’m gonna be okay. No, it’s not from a show; it’s me out working on the farm. It’s not stinging so much anymore.”

While the exact cause of the explosion remains unclear, Wilson expressed immediate regret over how he handled the situation. “I do know better,” he admitted. “So everyone out there, be really safe… [It’s] something I’ve dealt with tons of times. Sometimes when you’re a big brave man, that aspect of it can get in the way of rational thought.”

Wilson also described the extent of his injuries: “Eyebrows are singed, my mouth is blistered, arms pretty bad — both my arms,” he said. Despite the severity of his burns, Wilson is determined to get back to performing. “I’m gonna be all right, you guys. I don’t care what it takes, I will see you on tour.”

Even in the face of such adversity, Wilson managed to keep his sense of humor. “Got my brows done for free,” he joked. “Cheap Botox!” He also shared a laugh about his facial hair: “My mustache was all burned. It looked crazy. Before I jumped in the car to go to the hospital, I shaved my mustache off.”

By Saturday afternoon, Wilson posted a photo from a car, captioning it, “On my way home.” He expressed gratitude to his fans in one of the videos, repeatedly thanking them for their support and well-wishes.

Slipknot is scheduled to perform at the Rocklahoma event on September 1 and has sold-out shows in Los Angeles on September 13 and 14 as part of their Here Comes the Pain tour. As of now, the band’s website has not indicated whether these upcoming concerts will be rescheduled as Wilson continues to recover.
