Samantha Hanratty, known for her role as teenage Missy on Yellowjackets, recently delighted her castmates with the news of her pregnancy. The surprise occurred on the set of the show’s upcoming third season.

In a TikTok shared on Tuesday, Hanratty captured the moment she informed her co-stars, including Jenna Burgess, Sophie Nélisse, Jasmin Savoy Brown, and Mya Lowe, of her exciting news. The reaction was a mix of shock and joy as they received the unexpected announcement.

Earlier this month, Hanratty revealed that she and her husband, Christian DeAnda, an animator and visual effects artist, are expecting their first child. The couple, who married in 2023 after three years of dating, are thrilled about their growing family.

Reflecting on the changes in her life, Hanratty captioned the TikTok: “I was single when we filmed the pilot, dating during season one, engaged during season 2, and now married and pregnant during season 3! It’s been a crazy ride.”

Yellowjackets follows a high school girls’ soccer team who survive a plane crash in the Canadian wilderness and their transformation from a winning team to a cannibalistic clan. The show features Hanratty, Nélisse, Brown, and Sophie Thatcher as the teenage versions of the characters, with Melanie Lynskey, Tawny Cypress, Christina Ricci, and Juliette Lewis portraying their adult counterparts, who reflect on their survival two decades later.

Hanratty, who describes her character Misty as a comic figure, stated last year, “Misty is the kind of person that everybody can chuckle at, but she doesn’t view herself that way. I have to take her as seriously as possible to keep her authentic.”

The Emmy-nominated series has recently cast Joel McHale in a guest role, although details about his character remain undisclosed. Last season saw notable additions including Elijah Wood, Lauren Ambrose, and Simone Kessell. While a premiere date for season 3 has not yet been announced, production is expected to resume in 2025.
