Nikki Glaser, comedian and star of FBoy Island, will take the reins as host of the 2025 Golden Globes, succeeding Jo Koy, whose performance as the 2024 host faced significant criticism.

CBS and Dick Clark Productions announced on Wednesday that Glaser, 40, will host the upcoming Golden Globes ceremony, scheduled to air in January as one of the first major awards shows of the season.

“I am absolutely thrilled to be hosting the Golden Globes. It’s one of my favorite nights of television and now I get a front-row seat (though I’ll actually be on stage),” Glaser said in a statement. “The Golden Globes is a huge night for TV and film, and for comedy. It’s one of the rare times show business allows itself to be lovingly mocked (or at least I hope so). It’s an exciting and challenging gig because it’s live, unpredictable, and in front of Hollywood’s biggest stars (who might also be getting a bit tipsy while sitting next to their recent exes).”

Glaser cited Tina Fey, Amy Poehler, and Ricky Gervais as influential hosts who have inspired her, noting her intention to follow in their footsteps while adding, “that might also get me canceled.”

Emmy-winning producers Glenn Weiss and Ricky Kirshner will return as executive producers for the 82nd Golden Globes, which will also be available for streaming on Paramount+.

Last year, Jo Koy’s hosting performance faced backlash, particularly after Taylor Swift appeared unimpressed by one of his jokes and Koy made a controversial comment about his writers when some of his jokes fell flat.

“I love my writers,” Koy later told The Los Angeles Times. “I love all three of them and I shouted them out. I was grasping at that moment. I love them and can’t stop talking about them. They worked incredibly hard.”

The Golden Globes, a significant event leading up to the Oscars, first premiered in 1944. It was organized by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, which was dissolved in 2023 amid efforts to improve its image. The HFPA faced intense scrutiny following a February 2021 L.A. Times exposé revealing a lack of Black members among its 87 voters, resulting in record-low ratings and criticism from figures like Ava DuVernay, Scarlett Johansson, and Tom Cruise, who returned his Globes in protest.

The Globes have since returned to television without NBC, its former broadcast partner, following the 2023 ceremony.

The nominations for the 2025 Golden Globes will be announced on Monday, December 9, with the ceremony airing on Sunday, January 5, at 8 p.m. ET / 5 p.m. PT on CBS.
