Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos expressed their love and support for Ryan Seacrest following an emotional breakdown on his radio show, where he discussed his father Gary’s ongoing battle with prostate cancer.

Seacrest, who left Live in 2023 after joining in 2017, has maintained a close relationship with Ripa and Consuelos, and the couple shared their heartfelt tribute on Tuesday’s broadcast after Seacrest teared up on air Sunday. The emotional moment came as Seacrest recounted the challenges his father has faced with cancer, particularly after the disease worsened and spread.

“I want to send our love to our friend Ryan Seacrest,” Ripa said on air. “He’s battling prostate cancer, and apparently it’s gotten worse and spread.” Ripa then encouraged viewers to tune into Seacrest’s radio show for more details, while also sending her love to the Seacrest family.

Mark Consuelos also shared his sentiments, turning to the camera and saying, “Love you guys.”

Seacrest, visibly emotional during his radio segment, opened up about his father’s health struggles, which have been ongoing since his initial diagnosis with prostate cancer. He shared that the situation had become increasingly difficult for his family, especially after Gary developed pneumonia, which complicated his recovery.

“It didn’t get better, it got worse and it spread. It didn’t go well for him,” Seacrest said, revealing how his father’s health decline took a toll on the family. Seacrest recalled being on American Idol when he received the news that his father was in the ICU. “My sister called me and said, ‘Dad is in the ICU. How fast can you get here?’ I finished the show, we were almost done, and I didn’t even remember what I was saying on the show.”

Seacrest rushed to Atlanta to be with his family as they faced difficult decisions regarding Gary’s treatment. He described the emotional moment when he saw his father in a vulnerable state, unable to hide his concern as he looked to Seacrest for guidance on the next steps.

“I’ve never seen my strong, very smart father with the look on his face that he had, and the concern, looking at me to help guide the decision that should be made in this moment,” Seacrest said.

Later in the segment, Seacrest became tearful as he shared a positive memory. Ahead of his father’s upcoming birthday, Seacrest received a photo from his family of Gary and his mother sitting together by the water, something they hadn’t done in months. “Last night, I got the most powerful, good, happy picture from my dad and my mother, who was with him,” Seacrest said, choking up. “They went to a beach to sit outside, they just wanted to look at the water. They can’t do much. But, I saw him smile, I saw my mom smile.”

Seacrest expressed some embarrassment over his tears but found solace in the image of his parents’ happiness after 55 years of marriage. He also shared an update on Gary’s condition, noting that while his father’s pneumonia is gone, the family is preparing for another round of cancer treatments.
