John Krasinski and Chris Evans Team Up for Hilarious Sketch on The Late Show
Marvel stars John Krasinski and Chris Evans, who each portrayed characters from the Fantastic Four in different timelines, reunited for a comedic ‘80s-themed sketch on The Late Show Tuesday night. Krasinski, recently crowned PEOPLE’s “Sexiest Man Alive,” teamed up with Stephen Colbert, sharing some outlandish tips on how Colbert, too, could become irresistibly attractive.
The sketch took a bizarre twist when Krasinski instructed Colbert to track down Evans, crowned “Sexiest Man Alive” in 2022, to “steal his DNA.” The mission led Colbert to a coughing, bewildered Evans, who reacted with a stunned “What the f—?” as Colbert collected a DNA sample, hilariously confessing, “I need your spit to make me sexy!”
Colbert returned to Krasinski’s “lab,” where the actor explained the next phase: extracting Evans’ “sexy DNA” using a lab funded by Krasinski’s The Office rerun royalties. After a brief workout session, Krasinski presented Colbert with a serum synthesized from Evans’ DNA, meant to boost his attractiveness, even if it couldn’t quite turn him into Captain America or Johnny Storm.
“The transformation takes about 14 hours,” Krasinski explained with a grin as Colbert began to convulse, “and your body will reject every cell within it. Much like a butterfly, your organs will reorganize — but don’t touch me — into a more symmetrical, stunning formation.”
When Colbert finally “awoke” from the transformation, he was sporting Evans’ face, to Krasinski’s delight. “It worked!” Krasinski exclaimed. “Stephen, you look amazing!” Colbert responded with pride, “I feel amazing! I feel like the Sexiest Man Alive!” Krasinski couldn’t resist adding, “Sure, maybe in 2022, but this year, it’s me.”
Krasinski and Evans, despite their shared Fantastic Four roles, have never appeared together as members of Marvel’s first family, as their characters appeared in different timelines. Krasinski portrayed Reed Richards/Mister Fantastic in 2022’s Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, while Evans played Johnny Storm/the Human Torch in Fox’s original Fantastic Four films and reprised the role in Deadpool & Wolverine. Of course, Evans is also known for his iconic portrayal of Captain America in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
They join a lineup of actors who have played these characters over the years, including Miles Teller and Michael B. Jordan in Fox’s 2015 Fantastic Four reboot, with Pedro Pascal and Joseph Quinn set to take on Reed and Johnny in Marvel’s upcoming Fantastic Four: The First Steps.
