Iron Maiden: See Freak Accident of Gong Falling on Nicko McBrain
During a recent show in Dublin, Iron Maiden encountered a harrowing incident that had the potential to be far worse. While performing their epic song “Alexander The Great,” frontman Bruce Dickinson struck a large gong positioned behind drummer Nicko McBrain. Unfortunately, the gong came off its hanging device and hit McBrain in the back after the forceful strike. Remarkably, McBrain displayed his professionalism by soldiering on despite the impact. A video capturing the moment is available below.
Currently, Iron Maiden is on a European tour, which will continue until early August. As part of their European journey, the iconic metal band will headline the Wacken Open Air festival on August 4 in Wacken, Germany.
In the upcoming Power Trip event this Fall, Maiden is one of six iconic acts set to participate. The event will take place from October 6 to 8 at the Empire Polo Club in Indio, Calif., the same location as Coachella. On the first night, Maiden will perform alongside Guns N’ Roses.
Recently, Power Trip made headlines when Ozzy Osbourne withdrew from the event due to ongoing health issues. The Prince of Darkness released a statement explaining that he wasn’t ready yet to perform after nearly five years and didn’t want to deliver a subpar show. As a replacement, Judas Priest will take Osbourne’s place and perform on the second night alongside AC/DC. The third and final day of the event will feature performances by Metallica and Tool.
