If the Shoe Fits… Chris Hemsworth Could Become Disney’s Next Prince Charming
Chris Hemsworth may soon be stepping into the shoes of a Disney prince.
With his undeniable Disney prince-like looks, the Avengers star is reportedly in discussions to play Prince Charming in a live-action film directed by Paul King, the filmmaker behind Wonka and Paddington. While details about the plot remain under wraps, sources indicate that the movie won’t be connected to the classic Cinderella tale, despite Prince Charming being most commonly associated with that story.
Entertainment Weekly reached out to representatives for both Disney and Hemsworth but has yet to receive confirmation.
In Disney’s previous live-action adaptation of Cinderella (2015), Game of Thrones alum Richard Madden portrayed Prince Charming alongside Lily James, who played the title role of the beloved princess.
This potential casting of Hemsworth continues Disney’s trend of bringing its iconic animated characters into live-action films. The most recent example is The Little Mermaid (2023), with Halle Bailey starring as Ariel. Additionally, a Mufasa prequel, created with photo-real CGI, is set to debut this year, featuring Aaron Pierre as the young Mufasa and Kelvin Harrison Jr. as young Scar.
Next year promises even more live-action adaptations, including Snow White and Lilo & Stitch.
Hemsworth has already had a busy year, starring as the villain Dementus in the Mad Max prequel Furiosa and voicing young Optimus Prime in the animated Transformers One. He’s also in talks to headline Paramount’s crossover event film between the Transformers and G.I. Joe franchises.

As for his role as Thor in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it remains unclear if Hemsworth will return for Avengers: Doomsday, which is slated to begin filming in 2025. Whether or not he reprises his superhero role, Hemsworth’s potential new venture as Prince Charming could be his next big step into Disney’s live-action world.
