On Tuesday’s episode of The Drew Barrymore Show, fans were treated to a mini reunion of the Livingstone-Goodwin family. Over 35 years after they starred together in See You in the Morning, Drew Barrymore welcomed Jeff Bridges to her talk show. In a fun nod to Bridges’ iconic character, The Dude from The Big Lebowski, Barrymore dressed up in a similar ensemble for their chat.

“Do you know what inspired me to dress like this? Not only to pay homage to one of your most legendary characters, but this is how I dress every day when I’m not in professional mode,” Barrymore explained, showcasing a clip of herself in a hoodie, sweatpants, and flip-flops. “This is my mode!”

Bridges responded with enthusiasm, saying, “I dig your mode!”

Barrymore then reminisced about their shared film history, highlighting that it had been over three decades since they worked together in the 1989 rom-com. A surprised Bridges remarked, “Isn’t that… it goes so fast.”

See You in the Morning, directed by Alan J. Pakula, follows the complicated love story of Larry Livingstone (Bridges), who is navigating life after a split from his wife, Jo (Farrah Fawcett), and his budding relationship with widow Beth Goodwin (Alice Krige). As they looked at a photo of the fictional family on a screen behind them, Barrymore pointed out their co-stars, saying, “There’s Macaulay Culkin as a kid, Lukas Haas, and then I am 13.”

Barrymore played Cathy Goodwin, one of Beth’s children, while Haas portrayed her brother Petey and Culkin played Larry’s son, Billy.

“I was his daughter in the film, and I have to say, since I didn’t have father figures except for Steven Spielberg — probably the best father figure anyone could have — I loved working with you because I thought, ‘He looks like such a nice dad,’” Barrymore recalled. “It felt nurturing, empowering, and joyful.”

Bridges replied, “Don’t you feel that with acting in general? As actors, you want to create a safe atmosphere as soon as possible because you’ve got work to do!”

Barrymore wholeheartedly agreed, grasping Bridges’ hands as they spoke.

“Me too! I always take everyone in and hold their hands. I’m real touchy-feely, everyone knows this about me — in a non-creepy way! But yes, I’m literally like, ‘We’re gonna do this together.’”
