Demi Moore Reveals Discussions for St. Elmo’s Fire Sequel: “Everyone is Pretty Much Open”
Demi Moore has hinted at a possible St. Elmo’s Fire sequel, revealing that discussions are underway with studio executives about reprising her role.
In a recent interview at the Toronto International Film Festival, where she is promoting her upcoming body horror film The Substance (releasing on September 20), Moore shared with Entertainment Weekly that she has had several meetings with studio representatives about a potential sequel to the 1985 Brat Pack classic.
“I’ve had a couple of sit-down meetings, and I think it would be great if we could come up with a story that holds up,” Moore said about revisiting her role as Jules. “You never want to diminish what was. From what I understand, everyone is pretty much open and on board. We’ll see how it goes!”
Moore clarified that the studio is driving the efforts to bring the sequel to life. Earlier this year, there were reports that Sony was considering a reunion of original cast members, including Moore, Emilio Estevez, Rob Lowe, Andrew McCarthy, Judd Nelson, Ally Sheedy, and Mare Winningham. Rob Lowe has also confirmed discussions with the studio regarding the sequel.
Entertainment Weekly has reached out to Sony for further comments.
St. Elmo’s Fire, directed by Joel Schumacher, grossed nearly $38 million upon its original release and has since become a generational classic, exploring the lives of college friends navigating adulthood and relationships. It remains a significant film in the Brat Pack series.
Recently, some Brat Pack actors reunited for McCarthy’s documentary Brats, which delves into their dynamic and the enduring legacy of the Brat Pack label.
