More cast members will be revealed as the show’s new season approaches.

Fresh off his bronze medal win at the 2024 Paris Olympics, Stephen Nedoroscik, affectionately known as “Pommel Horse Guy,” is setting his sights on a new prize: the Mirrorball Trophy.

On Thursday, Dancing with the Stars announced that Nedoroscik, a pommel horse specialist on the U.S. men’s gymnastics team, will be joining the cast for the show’s upcoming 33rd season. Nedoroscik’s performance at the Olympics not only earned him an individual medal but also helped propel his team to the podium for the first time in 16 years.

Known for his Clark Kent-esque glasses and endearing personality, Nedoroscik became a fan favorite during the games. His ability to solve a Rubik’s Cube in seconds and his self-proclaimed “nerdy” persona only added to his appeal.

Nedoroscik is the first celebrity announced for the new season of the Emmy-winning reality series. The full list of competitors will be revealed in the coming weeks, as the show is set to return next month.

A few familiar faces are confirmed to return, including cohosts Alfonso Ribeiro and Julianne Hough, as well as judges Carrie Ann Inaba, Bruno Tonioli, and Derek Hough.

Julianne Hough recently made headlines when she appeared on Watch What Happens Live and was asked to name a previous champion whose win she “strongly disagreed” with. When fellow guest Mickey Guyton suggested season 18 winner Bobby Bones, Hough agreed.

Bones responded on Instagram the next day, humorously acknowledging his lack of dance skills: “I was the worst dancer. I take pride in that,” he said. “Now, I tried as hard as anybody in the history of the show, but I can’t dance now, couldn’t dance then. But you know who took down the big evil empire of dance? Well, it’s not evil or an empire — but me and you! We did it together.”

The new season of Dancing with the Stars premieres Tuesday, Sept. 17, at 8 p.m. ET, live on ABC and Disney+. Episodes will be available to stream on Hulu the following day.
