German-born US actor Christian Oliver, renowned for his 30-year career collaborating with stars like Tom Cruise and George Clooney, tragically passed away with his two daughters in a Thursday plane crash off a Caribbean island.
Originally Christian Klepser, Oliver and his daughters were aboard a single-engine plane departing Bequia at around 12:10 pm local time, headed to St Lucia. Authorities reported unspecified difficulties during the flight, leading to a sea crash.
Royal St Vincent and Grenadines police confirmed the deaths of Oliver, 51, his daughters Annik and Madita Klepser (aged 10 and 12), and pilot-owner Robert Sachs at the crash site. Recovery efforts involved fishers, divers, and the coast guard.
Medical staff declared them dead on-site, and their bodies were transported to a local mortuary by the coast guard for pending autopsies on Friday. The tragedy sparked an outpouring of condolences for the late actor, who had just completed filming for “Forever Hold Your Peace” days before Christmas.
Director Nick Lyon paid tribute, expressing gratitude for their collaborative projects and shared a poignant photo on Instagram. Bai Ling, Oliver’s co-star, remembered him as a brave actor and beautiful person, emphasizing life’s unpredictability and urging appreciation for each moment.
Christian Oliver’s acting journey began in 1994 with “Saved by the Bell: The New Class.” Notable roles included “The Good German,” “Speed Racer,” and “Valkyrie.” Beyond acting, he contributed voice work to video game series like Call of Duty and Medal of Honor in 2017 and 2020, respectively.
