The cancellation of Chucky by Syfy and USA Network has left the cast and crew reflecting on the series’ impact, but they remain optimistic that the infamous killer doll will return once again.

Jennifer Tilly, who became part of the franchise with 1998’s Bride of Chucky and portrayed the doll Tiffany Valentine on the show, confirmed the news of the cancellation via social media on Friday. “So sad to announce that after three wonderful seasons, the television series Chucky has finally been canceled,” she wrote. “First, I want to thank our fans, who kept the #RenewChucky hashtag trending for MONTHS! Without your loyalty and tenacity, Chucky wouldn’t have lasted for 30 years!”

Despite the disappointing news, Tilly hinted at the possibility of Chucky’s return in the future. “We’re incredibly proud of our show. It was a miracle to work with such a talented cast and crew, led by our brilliant creator Don Mancini. But (to quote Call of Duty), we are ‘down but not out.’ Resurrections are Chucky’s specialties, and he has had many!”

In another post, Tilly expressed her frustration over the timing of the cancellation, noting, “It’s kinda twisting the knife to cancel #Chucky so close to Halloween. That’s like canceling Santa at Christmas.” She also shared a humorous photo of herself and Mancini looking perplexed as they learned about the cancellation.

Devon Sawa, who portrayed multiple characters throughout the series, echoed Tilly’s sentiments, stating, “CHUCKY NEVER ENDS!!… He just respawns.” He added, “I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again: this series was some of the most fun I’ve ever had shooting. I’m sad but excited to see where it goes. RIP.”

Fiona Dourif, who also played a character possessed by Chucky, shared her gratitude: “This job was a dream, and I am grateful for every minute of it. We take a tiny red bow.”

Series creator Don Mancini, who has been with the franchise since writing the original script for 1988’s Child’s Play, expressed his appreciation for the fans. “I have so much love for our amazing fans. Your #RenewChucky campaign meant the world to me during a very difficult time. Chucky says to tell all of you, quoting himself: ‘See ya real soon.’ HE’LL BE BACK.”

Chucky aired for three seasons, continuing the narrative of the seven-film franchise, with a new storyline featuring the murderous doll targeting a group of teenagers in New Jersey.
