Billy Koumetio joins USL Dunkerque on season-long loan
Liverpool’s Billy Koumetio is set to join Ligue 2 club USL Dunkerque on a season-long loan, awaiting international clearance.
The young defender will seek to gain more senior-level playing time with Dunkerque, following his loan spell at Austria Vienna. Last season, Koumetio had 17 caps for Liverpool’s U21s, netting three goals.
Having come on board with Liverpool in 2018, the 20-year-old has played twice under the guidance of Jürgen Klopp, marking his debut in a Champions League match against FC Midtjylland in December 2020.
Dunkerque will face Ajaccio in their upcoming Ligue 2 match on Saturday evening.
Liverpool’s defender, Billy Koumetio, has finalized a loan move to Ligue 2 club USL Dunkerque for the duration of the upcoming season, pending international clearance.
Koumetio will continue his development by gaining more senior-level experience with the French team. He previously spent time on loan at Austria Vienna and had an impressive record of 17 appearances and three goals for Liverpool’s U21s in the previous season.
Having initially joined Liverpool in 2018, the 20-year-old has already made two appearances under the management of Jürgen Klopp, including his debut during a Champions League match against FC Midtjylland in December 2020.
Dunkerque will commence the new season with an away fixture against Ajaccio in a Ligue 2 match on Saturday evening.
