Norwich City Football Club

Norwich City Football Club is an English professional football club based in Norwich, Norfolk. The club participates in the EFL Championship, the second tier of English football. Founded in 1902, Norwich City has won the League Cup twice, in 1962 and 1985. The club played its first ever competitive match in November 1902 against Harwich & Parkeston, winning 3–2.

In 1925, Norwich City reached the FA Cup final for the first time, losing 1–0 to Cardiff City. In 1935, they won the inaugural Third Division South cup. After relegation to the Third Division in 1953, Norwich City bounced back and reached the First Division by 1959 under manager Ron Saunders. Relegation followed in 1962–63 season but promotion back to the top flight was achieved by 1967–68 season under manager Billy McNeill.

The 1970s saw Norwich achieve their greatest successes as they won promotion to the First Division again in 1972 and went on to win back-to-back League Cups in 1972 and 1973 under manager John Bond before finally achieving promotion to the top flight of English football for the 1974–75 season where they finished a highly creditable 4th place behind Liverpool, Leeds United and Manchester United respectively.

The EFL Championship

The EFL Championship is the second-highest division of English football, behind the Premier League. It is contested by 24 clubs, with Norwich City currently being one of them. The Championship is a tough, physical league with plenty of goals; in the 2016/17 season, there were an average of 2.74 goals per game.

Norwich City have been in the Championship for two seasons now, and are looking to return to the Premier League after a five-year absence. They narrowly missed out on promotion last season, finishing in 3rd place behind Brighton & Hove Albion and Newcastle United.

This season, Norwich City are once again challenging for promotion and are currently in 2nd place behind leaders Wolves. With 12 games left to play, they will be hoping to maintain their current form and secure a place in the Premier League for next season.
