To mark the return of Yellowjackets, Entertainment Weekly is unveiling a brand-new exclusive each day this week, offering fans a glimpse of what’s to come in the next chapter of this wild series.
Season 2 of Yellowjackets left viewers on a whirlwind of chaos. In the present day, the women find themselves drawn back into their old, dangerous ways. Lottie (Simone Kessell) convinces some of them that the Wilderness demands another sacrifice. Shauna (Melanie Lynskey), having drawn the wrong card, was initially in serious danger—until her daughter, Callie (Sarah Desjardins), intervened, throwing everything into further turmoil. Meanwhile, Misty (Christina Ricci) accidentally ended up killing her best friend, Natalie (Juliette Lewis).
As for the past timeline, Teen Natalie (Sophie Thatcher) drew the wrong card, prompting a deadly game of cat and mouse with her teammates, only for Javi (Luciano Leroux) to end up dead. While it wasn’t the sacrifice they had planned, it became one they could accept. Teen Lottie (Courtney Eaton) saw this as a sign that the Wilderness had chosen Natalie to be their leader, a move that enraged Shauna (Sophie Nélisse). And let’s not forget the devastating fire that destroyed their shelter, which may or may not have been started by Coach Ben (Steven Kreuger).
In this exclusive first look at Season 3, EW has new photos showing the teen girls in the warmer months, with Shauna seen quite literally taking a bite out of Mari (Alexa Barajas). As co-creator Bart Nickerson previously teased, “People will be surprised by their resourcefulness as they continue to survive.”
The new images also offer a glimpse into the present day, where Taissa (Tawny Cypress) tends to a sick Van (Lauren Ambrose), and Shauna shares a quiet moment with her daughter.
