Guns N’ Roses bassist Duff McKagan recently showcased his dedication to his favorite musician by getting a tattoo in honor of Ozzy Osbourne. Sharing a photo of the new ink on his social media, McKagan revealed that tattoo artist Franjo Pavlovic from Pavlo Ink Tattoo in Leverkusen, Germany, was the one responsible for the artwork. Since Guns N’ Roses is currently on tour in Europe, McKagan must have made a pit stop at the tattoo shop. It seems that he had long desired to have a tattoo dedicated to the Prince of Darkness.

“I FINALLY got my Ozzy Osbourne tattoo! Thank you,” McKagan expressed in the caption alongside an image of a small bat tattooed on his hand.

Pavlovic also shared his gratitude in a separate post, saying, “Thank you for your trust,” and described the tattoo as a “little nice bat.”

McKagan collaborated with Osbourne on his last two albums, 2020’s “Ordinary Man” and 2022’s “Patient Number 9.” He played bass and co-wrote several tracks on both records. Both Guns N’ Roses and Osbourne were initially scheduled to perform at the Power Trip festival in October. However, Osbourne recently announced his withdrawal from the event due to ongoing health issues.

Interestingly, the bat tattoo is not the only one McKagan has acquired during Guns N’ Roses’ 2023 European tour, which kicked off in June. He also had a quote from Cormac McCarthy’s 1985 novel “Blood Meridian, or, the Evening Redness in the West” inked on the side of his arm. The quote reads, “Like fugitives from some great fire at the earth’s end,” with the author’s name beneath it. The tattoo was done by Danielle Mawby at London’s Modern Classic Tattoo. McCarthy passed away on June 13, 2023.

McKagan has been a vocal admirer of McCarthy’s writing, as expressed in his 2012 article for ESPN. Describing “Blood Meridian” as a relentless and brutal tale of revenge involving a Mexican army-U.S. cavalry clash with a band of Comanche warriors, McKagan noted that the book holds particular appeal for male readers.
