The history of the band Kiss
KISS was formed in New York City in 1973 by Gene Simmons, Paul Stanley, Ace Frehley and Peter Criss. The band became well-known for their stage makeup and outrageous costumes, which they wore while performing their unique brand of hard rock music.
KISS released their self-titled debut album in 1974, which featured the hits “Strutter” and “Firehouse”. The album was a commercial success, selling over three million copies worldwide. KISS followed up with their second album, HOTTER THAN HELL, in 1975. The album spawned the hit singles “Got to Choose” and “C’mon and Love Me”.
During the 1970s, KISS became one of the most popular rock bands in the world. They released a string of successful albums including DESTROYER (1976), ROCK AND ROLL OVER (1976), LOVE GUN (1977) and DYNASTY (1979). The band also embarked on several highly successful tours, including their landmark KISS ALIVE! Tour in 1975-76.
In 1980, KISS embarked on a new chapter in their career with the release of their UNMASKED album. The album marked a change in direction for the band, as they removed their trademark makeup and costumes. UNMASKED was not as commercially successful as previous KISS albums but it did contain the hit single “Shandi”.
