How did the 1860 Munich Bundesliga Champions Ugly Sweater come about?
The Munich Bundesliga Champions Ugly Sweater was created in 2014 to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Munich Bundesliga. The original idea for the sweater came from Dr. Ulrich Hennig, a member of the executive committee of FC Bayern München. He and his team wanted to create something special to commemorate their championship victory, and they thought a ugly sweater would be the perfect way to do it.
They started by gathering material from old Bayern Munich jerseys that had been retired or never worn again. They then took this unwanted clothing and had it cut into small pieces, leaving nothing but threads and seams. These scraps were then sewn together using threadbare fabrics and whatever else they could find lying around the club’s workshop.
The end result was an extremely ugly sweater that is sure to make any fan of Bayern München smile – even if they don’t think it looks very good on them!
